About the Speaker:
Matt Gunderson – Senior Vice President, Farmers National Company
Matt Gunderson grew up on a farm outside of Yankton, South Dakota. He was active in the 4-H program at the county, regional and state levels growing up. He attended South Dakota State University (SDSU) where he was involved on the University’s Livestock Judging Team and held the office of President in several student organizations including the largest student run agriculture exposition in the nation. He holds a degree in Animal Science, with an emphasis in business and production with minors in Agriculture Business and Marketing. He has completed Masters coursework in Educational Leadership. Matt is an Accredited Farm Manager (AFM).
He currently is the Vice President of Farm & Ranch Management at Farmers National Company. Farmers National Company is the largest farm and ranch land management and agriculture real estate company in the nation headquartered in Omaha, NE. His responsibilities oversight of business development nationwide, the Consultation Division and Collateral Inspection business line; he also works with clients, farm and ranch managers, and future clients providing information and solving problems in farm and ranch management areas and assists the Senior Vice President of Farm and Ranch Management in various duties.
Matt most recently was the Executive Vice President at the Knights of Ak-Sar-Ben Foundation. He also was the Executive Director of Ak-Sar-Ben’s River City Rodeo & Stock Show which at that time held the distinction of being the second largest PRCA Rodeo on a per performance basis and the nation’s largest 4-H only Stock Show. His duties included oversight management and strategic planning for the entire event. He has formally worked as a 4-H Youth Livestock & Horse Specialist for South Dakota State University Cooperative Extension and as 4-H Activities & Events Manager for the University of Nevada-Reno Cooperative Extension.
Professionally he is Past Superintendent of the National 4-H Livestock Skillathon & Judging Contests and the current Chairman of the National 4-H Livestock Contests Management Committee. Matt is a member of Ag. Builders of Nebraska and is Past President of the Greater Omaha Jacks Alumni Chapter, Omaha Agri-Business Club, Kiwanis Club of Omaha. and the Friends of Extension Foundation in Douglas/Sarpy Counties. He currently chairs the Douglas County Fair Advisory Committee and is Vice Chair of the Nebraska Farm Bureau Foundation. He serves on the Management Education & Government Relations Committees for the American Society of Farm Managers & Rural Appraisers. He enjoys traveling and working on his family’s farm and livestock operation in his spare time. Matt is married with one daughter.
Meeting Protocol Information:
- All SFEPC members will be required to pre-register. Since spots are limited, please be courteous to other members and cancel your registration if a conflict arises.
- SFEPC members will be given priority when registering. Guests will be included only if space allows.
- A plated meal will be served by Minnehaha Country Club staff. Their staff will be masked and is required to complete a daily screening prior to work.
- Seating will be 4 people per round table.
- Attendees are encouraged to wear masks when not eating.
- The program will also be offered for you to stream at your home or office. If you are not feeling well, or are not comfortable attending in person, please register to attend the live webinar which begins at NOON. A registration link will be provided to members.
